New Orleans Convention Center gets first national cleaning accreditation, partly thanks to ATP

 New Orleans swabbing

The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans received the Global RioRisk Advisory Council STAR accreditation for its efforts to clean, disinfect and monitor its efforts at the popular meeting complex on the Mississippi River.

It is one of the first convention centers in the United States to receive such an accreditation. The center is currently used as a medical monitoring station for patients recovering from COVID-19.

Global BioRisk Advisory Council, a division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, said that "the program certifies that the facility is implementing the industry’s highest standards of cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention for infectious agents such as COVID-19 and is the leading standard of prepared facilities. The program ensures facilities use best practices to limit future outbreaks, empowers cleaning staff to do their jobs safely and effectively, and gives customers greater peace of mind."

These efforts include post-cleaning verification. The Convention Center is using the Hygiena SystemSURE Plus ATP monitoring system to determine levels and effectiveness of cleaning.
