Microbial contamination can negatively impact beer quality, causing cloudiness, unwanted flavor changes, and other effects. Lactobacillus, Pediococcus, Megasphaera and Pectinatus frequently cause spoilage. Our PCR assays screen for over 30 beer-spoilage bacteria, differentiate between lactic acid and obligate anaerobic bacteria, identify important species (Lactobacillus brevis), and test for hop tolerance genes to ensure high-quality products.
